Record money a customer pays you

Enter a payment against a buyer. It clears their oldest unpaid bills first, and every receipt is listed in Payment Receipts.

Steps

  1. Open Customers → Customers, click the buyer's name, then click Receive Payment on their Dashboard. The row menu Receive Payment opens the same box.
  2. Enter the Amount, check Received At, and pick the Method: Cash, UPI, Card, Bank Transfer, Cheque or Adjustment.
  3. For UPI, card or bank transfer pick the Bank / UPI account and type the Reference / UTR / Txn Id. You can drop in a payment screenshot; the UTR and date are read from it, but type the amount yourself.
  4. Outstanding invoices shows live how the money will be split, oldest bill first, in the Allotting column. Click Pay Pending Invoices (Review), or Add to Wallet (Review) when nothing is due.
  5. Tick all four boxes under Checklist (required) and click Confirm & Save.
  6. Every payment is listed in Customers → Payment Receipts. Search by buyer, phone, order or reference and click Details.

Good to know

Check the buyer and the amount before saving — the page itself says there is no quick reversal. Only the owner can cancel a payment, from the buyer's Dashboard Payments tab.
Paid by cheque? No bill is settled until the cheque is marked cleared in Cheque Register; the receipt and its payments stay Pending till then. A walk-in counter sale cannot be paid by cheque at all.
Money above what is due stays as Wallet Balance. To use it, tick Pay bills from wallet in Receive Payment (your amount pays the oldest bills, the wallet what is still due; leave Amount empty for wallet only), or tick Use wallet balance at checkout.

Methods you never use can be switched off in Settings under Payment Methods, and a method that is off does not appear in the box. An inactive buyer is not offered Receive Payment until you activate them.
