Steps
- When a customer pays by cheque, use Receive Payment → Cheque on their Dashboard. After Confirm & Save, fill Cheque Details and click Save Cheque.
- Open Accounts → Cheque Register. It lists cheques dated from 1 April to today, with Total, Pending, Deposited, Cleared and Bounced counts.
- Tap Received under Direction and a Status, or change From / To and click Filter. A bar at the top lists cheques maturing in the next 7 days.
- When you deposit a cheque, open its ⋮ menu → Mark Deposited, tick the box and click Confirm Deposit. Nothing is posted to your books yet.
- When the bank credits it, ⋮ → Mark Cleared, tick both boxes and click Confirm Clearance. The money is posted and the invoice balance goes down.
- If it bounces, ⋮ → Mark Bounced, choose the Bounce Reason, add any Bounce Charges and click Confirm Bounce. The customer still owes the full amount.
Good to know
Record a customer's cheque through Receive Payment, not Add Cheque – only then is the cheque linked to their invoices.
A cheque dated in the future is marked PDC. The list stops at today's date, so move To later to see it.
A bounced cheque turns the payment into Credit / Pay Later, with 14 days to pay.
